Description

D Delve into the world of nature, tranquility, and fresh air with this property located in Atotonilco, very close to the rural community where the temple of Jesus del Nazareno is located, called by many as The Sistine Chapel of America and situated along an extraordinary cobblestone path, in close proximity to the Benedictine Monastery. This property will fill all your senses, as well as those of your relatives and friends, as it consists of two houses and a small cottage.

At the front, there is a blend of a loft and a house, well-lit and ventilated, with a very welcoming atmosphere. The ground floor seamlessly integrates the living room, dining area, and kitchen, all adorned with low-maintenance porcelain tile. Additionally, there is a covered parking area that could easily be converted into another bedroom due to the abundant land, allowing for the relocation of the garage. Adjacent to this is the small cottage, complete with its own kitchen, bathroom, and extremely spacious bedroom.
Towards the rear of the property stands a second, cozy house, with a Mexican style that leans towards the traditional, making it easy to decorate. Numerous wooden windows illuminate and ventilate the spaces, providing visual contact with the surrounding nature, adorned with many trees. The vestibule welcomes you and leads into the pleasant arrangement of the living room, dining area, and kitchen. The ground floor also includes a bedroom with a complete bathroom, which serves as a half-bathroom when visitors arrive. The second level boasts two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a beautiful terrace that allows you to overlook the entire property, the existing trees, and the spaces where you might enjoy planting more fruit trees or creating your own garden.
I invite you to come and see it for yourself.

Colonia Atotonilco

Atotonilco, a picturesque village located 11.2 kilometers from San Miguel de Allende, is an integral part of the Municipality of San Miguel de Allende, nestled at an altitude of 1,854 meters.

Founded in the year 1776, the name Atotonilco is derived from Nahuatl, where "atl" means water, "totonolli" means hot, and "co" means in. Translated, it means "in hot waters" or "where there are hot waters."

In 1776, on March 22nd, Father Luis Felipe Neri de Alfaro founded the humble town of Atotonilco. He was the founder of the Holy School of Christ in Guanajuato and the renowned Sanctuary of Atotonilco dedicated to Jesus Nazarene, as well as a House of Spiritual Exercises.

In 1802, on April 10th, the Sanctuary of Atotonilco witnessed the marriage of Ignacio Allende to Doña María de la Luz Agustina de las Fuentes. The year 1810 marked a significant historical event when, on September 16th, Miguel Hidalgo and the Insurgent Army arrived at the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, where he took the standard of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The village of Atotonilco is home to the famous Sanctuary of Atotonilco. This Baroque temple from the 18th century, situated 14 kilometers from San Miguel in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, was founded by Father Luis Felipe Neri de Alfaro in 1740. Inspired by the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, the Sanctuary is dedicated to Jesus Nazarene and served as a House of Spiritual Exercises of San Ignacio de Loyola.

The Sanctuary played a pivotal role in Mexican Independence history when Miguel Hidalgo took a standard bearing the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe as the flag of the insurgent army. Recognizing its cultural significance, UNESCO declared the Sanctuary of Atotonilco a World Heritage Site on July 8, 2008, alongside the city of San Miguel de Allende. The construction, adorned with incredible architecture and beautiful murals, attracts over 5,000 visitors from around the world every week.

The Sanctuary of Jesus Nazarene was also one of over 60 individual sites inscribed in 2010 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. It is also known as the "Sistine Chapel of America."
